10 Worst Credit Cards- Part 1

Written By: Vivek Sharma

Few days back, we discussed about 10 best credit cards you should have in your wallet and today we are back again talking about those elite credit cards which shouldn’t be anywhere near you. We agree that it’s very nice to hear when you're notified that your credit card application has been approved but guys please remember that all credit cards are not created equally. While choosing credit cards, you have to pay attention to more than just the interest rate. Online business magazines constantly propagate that credit card companies are always looking to earn profit from their fee structure. Thus, it is wise to avoid 10 worst credit cards:

10th- BP Chase Visa:

BP Chase Visa

As per the market report, this card seems like a good choice, with no annual fee, a reasonable interest rate of 11.99% and up to 10% rebates on BP gas for the first 60 days. Moreover, this credit card also gives you 1% to 2% rebate on other purchases. Now you’ll ask why this credit card is listed in the worst category. Let me inform you that, after the 0% for 6 months expires, you go to the normal interest of 11.99% to 19.99%. Also if you scan through the fine print, you'll find that they will even pay off your 0% balance. It sounds so nice until you realize they'll be charging you interest on the unpaid charges you racked up after the 0% introductory period expires.

If you have $24.99 racked up, you get nothing and if you have $49.99, you can only redeem in $25 increments. Though it's a good concept, but makes it nearly impossible to reap the benefits, which makes this card land into top 10 worst credit cards list.

9th- Marathon Platinum Reward Card:

This Marathon Platinum Reward Card gives you unlimited rebates with the interest rates they charge but what’s the use guys! However, you get a 5% rebate on all Marathon purchases, including gas. This sounds luscious but there’s hidden aspect as well. The worse part is you have to pay 29.99% if your payments are late and all of this risk for a 5% rebate is limited to $270 per year, really isn't worth the stress.

8th- American Dream Card:

If you have a fantasy of paying high interest and getting nothing for it, the American Dream Card is the best for you. After all, 14.99% to 21.99% rate is not ridiculous if your credit isn't in top-notch shape. So guys, the only silver lining this credit card seems to offer is entries into sweepstakes to win prizes that you will likely never win.

7th- Direct Merchants Bank MasterCard:

With the first glance, the Direct Merchants Bank MasterCard doesn't seem too bad, with no annual fee and the basic rate is 14.9%. This is not insanely high by credit card standards today. However, if you perform a Google search, you will find the results littered with complaints regarding the card issuer. Moreover, the complaints are very similar and are centered on payments taking days or even weeks to post to the account. This shows processing service on this card is not up to par, and could end up costing you quite a bit in the end.

6th- Orchard Bank Classic MasterCard:

More recently, one of the business week magazines stated that Orchard is more interested in collecting fees and security deposits from you. With a $49 account processing fee and a $49 annual fee for starters, just be prepared to pay 14.9% to 29.49% in interest. In some cases you might have to put up a security deposit in cash representing your credit line. It may sound like a debit card, or at least one of the worst credit cards we've ever heard of.

More information will be continued in the next part, wherein we will talk about top 5 worst credit cards you should avoid.
