Written By: Smriti Sharma
2009 is the year of afflatus, at least on the trendsetter frontage!! This coming year has already categorized men’s hair styles into two clusters namely – school boy and rocker. Rocker look has emerged from the 20th Century and the school book appearance has penetrated in beau monde from the 19th Century Britain.
OctanMen, online men’s fashion magazine, chit chats about the top three hair styles that were featured in 2009 runway collection.
1. Fantastic Fringe: Wow!! This fad holds true for both sexes. Distinction being, men’s fringe is styled in a spectrum of lengths….a good excuse to play with your look. Peter out the trial and errors only when you pin point the fringe that gels with your face contour.

Textured hair cuts with longer fringe are often addressed as ‘Caesar Cut’. Named after Roman dictator Julius Caesar who wore his tresses with authority. George Clooney has also lent this cut his eminent last name.
Whilst flaunting the Clooney Cut, the back and sides should be trimmed, experiment with the fringe to craft a style that speaks volumes of your personality. Bottega Veneta Men’s Spring – Summer 2009 catwalk showcased side swept fringe and the cropped fringe. This look is all about texture. So, it doesn’t matter whether you have straightened your tresses or they are naturally minus curves.
2. Sophisticated Slick Back: Classy, stylish, trendy George Clooney has been an influence in the latest trends of men’s hair styles. Far – framed amongst the celebs, classic slick back style won popularity in the Ralph Lauren catwalk. Jil Sander’s Spring – Summer 2009 show sauntered on the ramp demonstrating the slick back fad.

A truly American look, this will surely hit the States streets in 2009. But, will it strike success beyond the boundaries of States? Only time can answer this.
If you are picking on slick back, then it’s vital you first mull over whether your locks are wavy or straight. Straight mane ones stick to longer cut on top. Wavy hair ones, should request the stylist to give them short hair on top only a few inches, depending on the strength of your wave. For those with curly hair, drop the style. Unless and until, you are willing to set aside long morning hours for hairstyles.
Keep in mind, the side you choose to slick the hair back goes well with your face cut. Attempt both sides, and judge for yourself. In 2009, wear this trend with a parting. Clooney and models on the Moschino Fall 2009 catwalk are already flaunting their part.
3. The Classic Part: The classical look in 2009 will be all about traditional styling. Do the classic part cautiously as it reveals details about your personality. Making the look fashionable depends on how you strike the right chord between your hair and facial structure.
