Long time back, a gorgeous gal filled in the forms for Law School. From form canonical to written examination cleared and the date for a one on one question answer round fixed, she was in high spirits, since she made half way through the law school. Fortunately or unfortunately, this law enthusiastic slept on the morning of the interview and missed upon her chance!!! Contrary to what you may think, she took dozing off as a signal that her pretty face was destined for other things. OctanMen, online entertainment magazine, tells you how fate brought her close to the profession God had pick out for this celebrity. No prize for guessing, whom we are talking about. She was none other but Meryl Streep.

Born on 22 June 1949, her mother was a drug company executive and an artist who gave up her profession to be a homemaker. This opened new doors for their daughter Meryl Streep. Her mother was a good singer and a dad who played piano magnificently… her growing years can be defined as purely musical. Thus, it comes as no astonishment that the lady took singing lessons at a young age.
Born and raised at New Jersey, she attended Harding Township Middle School later, she moved on to Bernards High School. In high school, she was a bubbling cheerleader and homecoming queen, but was always more inclined towards singing. She adopted an earnest approach towards singing lessons and trained to become an opera singer.

After earning BA degree at Vassar College and a MFA from Yale University, she cherished studies but was more biased towards drama. After graduation, she enrolled in the Yale School of Drama. As a young actor and stuck by acting cupid, this award winning star, groomed her acting skills at Yale Repertory with Christopher Lloyd.
Freshly out of the Drama School and in wait of making it big, she worked as a waitress at the Hotel Somerset in Somerville. Thankfully, serving meals didn’t last long and she quickly found employment with Joseph Papp’s New York Shakespeare Festival.
“When I was 20 I could not afford accommodation. One night I hadn't earned enough, I actually slept in the open in Green Park in London. The view was of the Ritz Hotel and I vowed I'd stay there one day. And I have,” voiced the beauty recalling her struggling days.

She debuted in 1977, as Julia her first film role. Being appreciated about her performance, she made a thumping beginning. The very next year, the actor was nominated for her first Oscar, thanks to her role in The Deep Hunter. Finally came the time when this talented actor walked on the stage for the first time to receive the Academy Award in 1979. Since then, there has been no stopping her victory. In 1978, this style icon married Don Gummer, an American Sculptor. A family person, she was blessed with four kids. Henry Gummer, Mary Willa Gummer, Grace Jane Gummer, and Louisa Jacobson Gummer are the names of her children.
During her nephew’s graduation in 2004, this mother of four was bestowed upon an honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Middlebury College.

Currently, she holds the title for most Oscar nominations (i.e. 14 in total), still her towering accomplishments have not gone on her head. Born with a peaceful mind, she always took winning and losing dignifiedly.
Known for her simplicity, in 1987, when she and Cher were nominated for Best Actress, Streep was springing to her feet in delight and applauded for Cher.
Streep’s dedication towards her work won her numerous accolades and she bagged two Academy Awards, a Cannes award, six Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), four Grammy Award nominations, two Emmy Awards, a BAFTA award, and a Tony Award nomination. She shares same position with Jack Nicholson for most Golden Globe Award wins, with six each. Her name has been nominated 21 times for a Golden Globe, second only to Jack Lemmon, who had 22.
