It is not a knockout game for women any more, but about 47 years ago the story was a different. Women, before the pill never had the freedom of indulging in a sexual act without the fear of getting pregnant. Though the pill does have some side effects, but it has been a boon to women sexuality, and the control they have over their bodies to prevent unwanted pregnancy, Uterine and Ovarian cancers. But guess what, it dampens your sexual desire. How? It directly effects your hormone regulation.
A main hormone that drives a woman to sexual craving is testosterone, especially in times before ovulation-the time when woman is mostly likely to get pregnant. Around the mid-cycle of every month, the brain sends signals to the ovaries which generate 50 percent of testosterone to construct a surge of desire. This increased level of testosterone in blood makes the girly parts more sensitive and increases the lubrication which in turn enhances the chances of orgasms. Researches from Hormones and Behavior, a Canadian research institute, confirm that women with increased testosterone levels reach climax more often than those with lesser levels.
The main problem with a pill is that it alters the production of testosterone levels in the body. There are certain reasons for it: The first and for most-pill makes the ovaries inactive thus no hormones. The other 50 percent testosterone comes from your adrenal glands, but thanks to pill, it makes them ineffective. The pills contain a super potent synthetic estrogen which convinces your liver that you have taken a toxic amount of estrogen so it had to react! And it does with the release of protein called sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG.) This protein is peculiar in nature, as it glues itself to testosterone and estrogen. The more it combines with the two the lesser is the availability of hormones to be used up by your body. The end result is the lesser desire to indulge in sex.
So what is the remedy? Well the answer to this is not a very cutting edge technology but a simple shift of brands. Researches have proven that women who shift their brands, normally get their sexual life back on track. One more option is the usage of new contraceptives, which have a lighter effect on creation of SHBG.
Suggestion
Don’t stick to your pills for more than six months. This allows your ovaries to get back to normal and hence increased supply of hormones in blood that is desired for intimacy.
