An Indian actress and former Miss Universe, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is finally making her presence felt at world’s biggest stage called Hollywood. Recently beautiful Ash (as known back in India) once again paid tribute to world’s most prestigious film festival, Cannes – with hubby and actor Abhishek Bachchan. Ash has become quite a regular at the Cannes film festival. This year she was seen gracing the red carpet once again, though she was accompanied by beautiful Eva Langoria of Desperate Housewives fame this time. This is Ash’s fourth visit to the French Rivera ever since she went there to promote her 2002 hit movie ‘Devdas’.

 

Lately Ash’s has been trying a lot to make an entry into Hollywood. Though she acted in films like ‘The Last Legion’, directed by Sir Ben Kingsley, Bride and Prejudice a cross-over movie by Gurinder Chadha and Mistress of Spices by Paul Mayeda Berges, these projects failed to garner the desired reactions from the western media and could not do much to help her Hollywood cause. 

 

It took Aishwarya Rai almost three years to enter the Indian film industry Bollywood after winning the 1994 Miss Universe title. She started her career with a Tamil film Iruvar directed by Mani Ratnam. It was not an easy run for Ash as she too had to struggle her way to the top, her career is dotted with films that she would never have done had she been in a position to refuse. It was only after her 2002 hit pairing opposite Bollywood super star Shahrukh Khan in award winning tragic love story Devdas that Aishwarya got introduced to the outside world, as the movie saw a special screening at the Cannes Film Festival.  

 

Color Me Pink 

Now this seems to be the perfect time for Aishwarya Rai to realize her Hollywood dreams as she recently finished shooting for her upcoming movie The Pink Panther 2, where she will be staring along side the comedian Steve Martin. The Pink Panther 2 will mark Aishwarya’s formal entry into Hollywood as it has nothing to do with her Indian background.

 

As per the latest report, there is no Indianisation of Ash’s character in the movie, her role is very much character based and will see her matching her acting skills with the likes of Steve Martin, John Cleese, Jean Reno and Andy Garcia.
